Overview

Water in the backcountry is liquid gold, so set up your vehicle with an IRONMAN 4X4 Water Tank.

The IRONMAN 4X4 50L Tapered Water Tank is built tough from food grade, BPA free, UV Stabilized Polyethylene ensures you can enjoy clean, taste free water. This is a perfect size tank for that void behind the second row seats.

All IRONMAN 4X4 water tanks are pressure tested with water at the factory. A small amount of water inside the tank is normal. IRONMAN 4X4 recommends cleaning your water tank before use. Refer to instructions for cleaning procedures.

Questionable

Tank appears to be well made. Although the installed shut off ball valve doesn't close all the way. And the fitting itself turns in the tank with no way to tighten it. Will it leak? Will it leak over time if it doesn't leak now?
I'm very hesitant to recommend due to this.
I sent an email to Ironman using their website address over 2 weeks ago and haven't had a response concerning this issue.

Sorry you did not her back from us. I checked our system and did not see your email address or concern in the system. So, sorry about that. Be assured your water tank is covered under warranty. My experience is if the tank leaks it will leak now and seldom do i see tanks leaking later. If you haven't already fill the tank with water and check. Sometimes those valves need a little more 'umph' to fully close when they are new. and the twisting of the fitting is in a silcone sleeve so should not be an issue. But please let us know if there is an. leaking now or later.

The tapered water tank fit

The tapered water tank fit perfectly between the wheel wells and under the bed cover of my Gladiator. The tank is lightweight, built with quality materials, and it's sturdy enough for the job. I added a small vent and bung in the cap for filling. As usual, great service from Ironman 4X4!

Great Tank, needs vacuum release valve.

Going with three stars here, mainly due to the water tank lacking a vacuum release valve of some sort. With out it, as the water is removed the flow becomes severely restricted. Other than that it's well built, and perfectly sized for our application. The price was reasonable as well. The vacuum release is an easy fix, either loosen the fill cap or add a vacuum release valve.

Not for potable water

Fittings are cheap, leaks constantly, and had to replace after the first trip out with it. And is unusable as a fresh water tank. Taste is horrible and despite cleaning with everything I could possibly think of, it still is undrinkable. This is only useful as a non potable water tank in my mind. Wasted nearly 500L in cleaning, and rinsing. Would not recommend if you're looking for a fresh water tank

Water Tank

Perfect for my needs traveling with family and conserving space. Well designed and built. The only criticism is that the barbed port is plastic and a larger size than the port for the water pump. Made it far more difficult to assemble the water system, ultimately just slightly heated the smaller hose sized hose so that it would properly fit onto the larger tank fitting.

BIG ISSUE: Cap does not have a breather valve

I have a water pump attached to the spout on the tank. Unfortunately, the water tank does not have a breather in the cap. So when you turn the pump on, the tank starts crushing like when you suck a waterbottle. This also creates unnecessary stress on the pump.

The cap does not vent

The cap does not vent and it tries to suck the tank flat. I also purchased the 12 volt pump kit together but the fittings on the pump are not the same as the hose and fittings that come with the tank. The shut off valve that screws into the bottom off the tank leaked pretty bad. After a few trips and about $45 worth of fittings and hose I was able to make it work! We enjoyed it while in Big Bend Ranch State Park. I still have to find a vented cap that will work. It does fit well behind the second row seat in our GX470.

Mixed feelings

Have this mounted in the back seat of my Gladiator The valve is extremely hard to get to in turn And when You are tipping back-and-forth in the Jeep it slowly leaks around the valve Do not like how the valve was a poxyed in can not replace it

Good quality tank garbage valve it will leak. And ironman will tell you to go to the hardware store and fix it yourself. Wont send you a new valve or stand behind there products at all. They think that because they didnt manufacturer it there not at fault. Very poor cust service.

Works as it should

So far I am loving the water tank. It was relatively easy to install. I will say the valve at the bottom of the tank is quite stiff. It was extremely difficult to turn this valve on after the tank was installed. Yes, in hind sight I can/should have turned this on prior to install.
